Department Of Tourism Launches USVI Escape Offer To U.S. Travelers

$500 booking incentive available through March for Winter-worn consumers

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS, January 14, 2011 – On February 1, the Department of Tourism will begin offering the USVI Escape package, a bookable offer designed to help travelers suffering from the Winter blues “thaw out” in paradise without the hefty price tags usually associated with this peak travel period.

The USVI Escape promotion offers travelers a $500 instant rebate on each booking of five nights or more at participating hotels. The offer will begin on February 1, 2011 and remain available for booking through March 31, 2011 for travel from March 1 through May 31, 2011, giving travelers the opportunity to enjoy warm temperatures and recuperate from what weather forecasters are calling a ‘Wintry Battle Zone.’

“We’re giving travelers the opportunity to get instant savings on a hassle-free Caribbean vacation in a tropical destination that’s accessible via non-stop flights in major U.S. cities,” said Commissioner of Tourism Beverly Nicholson-Doty. “What’s more, no passport is required for U.S. citizens to travel from city-to-beach in as little as three hours.”

With the St. Croix Food & Wine Experience taking place April 10-16 and the trend of culinary travel on the rise, the package also gives food fanatics an opportunity to see their favorite celebrity chefs throw down island-style in the USVI. Other major events taking place during the USVI Escape package travel window include the 38th International Rolex Regatta (March 25-27) and VI Carnival (April 17 – May 7) on St. Thomas and the St. John Beach-to-Beach Power Swim (May 30).

More than twenty hotels on St. Croix, St. John and St. Thomas will participate in the USVI Escape offer. Participating hotels include: The Buccaneer, Chenay Bay Beach Resort, Club Comanche, Club St. Croix, Colony Cove, Company House Hotel, Divi Carina Bay Resort, Hibiscus Beach Resort, Hotel Caravelle, King Christian Hotel, The Palms at Pelican Cove and Renaissance St. Croix Carambola Beach Resort & Spa on St. Croix; Concordia Eco Tents, Gallows Point Resort, Maho Bay Camps and Westin St. John Resort & Villas on St. John and The Anchorage Beach Resort, Best Western Carib Beach Resort, Bolongo Bay Beach Resort, Crystal Cove, Marriott Frenchman’s Reef, McLaughlin Anderson Villas, Pavilions & Pools, Point Pleasant, The Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas, Sapphire Beach Resort, Sapphire Village, Secret Harbor Beach Resort, Windward Passage Hotel and Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa on St. Thomas.
